SoccerPlus Camper Quote: |
"The
setting is very nice and relaxed
which is nice for down time during
the week, being in such a laid back
environment helps you recover for
the next session."
"The dorms are
fantastic and don't smell like
anything, unlike many dorms." |
|
SoccerPlus Staff Quote: |
"Suffield Academy has
it all - nice Fields, comfortable
dorms, quality food and a friendly
small town feel nestled in the
center of Connecticut. The quality
of Staff and the ability of the

at this site." |

Local
sites of Interest: |
History buffs will
enjoy Suffield's historic Hatheway
House and the New England Air
Museum. The Air Museum, which is
just a short drive from campus,
houses historic planes and
chronicles the history of aviation.
The nearest shopping mall and movie
theaters are located in Enfield,
Conn., 5 miles from campus.
In Hartford, you can tour the homes
of writers Mark Twain and Harriet
Beecher Stowe, spend time with over
5,000 years of art at the Wadsworth
Athenaeum, and explore history when
you tour the Old State House, the
oldest one in America. Springfield
offers the Basketball Hall of Fame
and Dr. Seuss Museum, while
bordering Massachusetts towns such
as Longmeadow offer pleasant
shopping districts and restaurants.
Six Flags New England is a 10-minute
drive from campus. |

History: |
The history of
Suffield Academy is unique and
interesting, as the school has
constantly evolved since its start
in 1833.
Initially established as the
Connecticut Literary Institute (the
school was renamed Suffield School
in 1916 and then Suffield Academy in
1937), the mission of this school
with Baptist roots was to educate
young men for the ministry. As the
Connecticut Literary Institute was
the only high school in Suffield,
the town tax dollars paid for local
students to attend. To Read More,

About
the Cafeteria: |
Brewster Hall at
Suffield Academy is also home to the
Academy's Student Union and features
a special locker by the cafeteria to
hold student bags and gear during
meals. Traditional School style menu
plans with round table that can hold
up about 8 people per table. Since
there are full-time staff living on
campus all year round the cafeteria
continues a large menu throughout
the summer. There are always options
at each meal like cereal or hot
breakfasts in the morning / sandwich
or entry at lunch and so on. Salad
Bar is always available as well.

About
the
Dorms: |
The
dorms are consistently one of the
highest rated out of all of our
sites. Being right next to the
training fields is great especially
with all of the training that goes
on during the course of a week.
All Dorms are
run by full-time faculty members and
range in style from traditional
dormitories to colonial-era houses.
All dorm rooms are wired for both
telephone and Internet use and
feature a common area with cable
television. |
