Which
Program is Best for Me? |
SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School offers 4
different programs. Each program is described in detail on their
programs
page, but here is some
advice as to which program is best for you.
\\\The Challenge
Program (GK) covers all four dimensions of goalkeeping - technical, tactical, physical and
psychological, but it concentrates on the technical aspects of goalkeeping. How to catch,
how to dive, how to throw and punt, etc. However, this is not a fundamental program. Many
students who have played in goal for several years will benefit from the Challenge Program
because it will clean up their technique. Through biomechanical analysis our staff will
study your technique to help it become as efficient as possible. In a try-out environment
technique is the first skill that coaches evaluate. With innovative exercises and plenty
of repetitions the Challenge Program will help to make you technically sound. -

\\\The Competitive
Program (GK) has been designed for goalkeepers who need more functional training with field
players. For a variety of reasons some goalkeepers do not spend a lot of quality time in
the goal. This program manipulates live game action with field players to create the types
of scenarios that goalkeepers must deal with in games. It is expected that Competitive
Program goalkeepers will be very proficient technically and have a good understanding of
game tactics. The Competitive Program is not as physically demanding as the Challenge
Program since a lot of time is spent playing in the goal instead of training your
technique. - Read

\\\The National
Training Center (NTC) (GK) is for goalkeepers who are experienced and have very good
technique. Most students will attend the Challenge Program before entering the
NTC. The
focus of the NTC is to develop a strong level of tactical awareness and teach some mental
skills training that is crucial to succeeding at the highest levels. The major benefactors
of this program are high school juniors and seniors and collegiate freshmen who are
playing at a very competitive level. -

\\\Teams
(GK & FP) A team or group will receive a discount of $50
for each player. There must be at least 10 students in the
group, and all applications will need to arrive at the same
time. NOTE, the group of ten or more players can consist of
any combination of goalkeepers and fieldplayers.
It is very important that you choose the
program which is right for you. If you have any questions, call SoccerPlus at
