"I had a great time as one
of the
FSASoccerPlus
coaches. You have a
great facility
the best Ive
seen and your coaches and
staff were awesome.
In fact, everyone
your staff
and parents were so great
and nice to me.
I hope all the players had a
good time and benefited from
the day, I know I did.
As usual, everything you do
is special.
Happy holidays to everyone,
especially the players at

KRISTINE
LILLY
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Wilton, Ct
College: UNC, Chapel Hill
Website:
kristinelilly13.com
Kristine Lilly has been a mainstay of U.S. women's soccer
since 1987, when she started her first seven games for the
Women's National Team. Before she was a mainstay for the
National Team, Lilly was making her presence known in the
Connecticut Youth Soccer Association and US Youth Soccer
Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP).
In 2001, she became the first soccer player -- male or
female -- to rack up more than 200 international
appearances, with 218 starts in 228 total games.
In between, the Wilton, CT-raised midfielder collected two
Women's World Cup titles, two Olympic Gold and one Silver
medal, a Hermann Trophy, a Missouri Athletic Club Player of
the Year Award, and four NCAA women's soccer titles with the
University of North Carolina, including two tournament MVP
nods. She was a four-time All-American and All-South
Selection at UNC, a two-time All-ACC selection and member of
Soccer America's College Team of the Decade for the 1990s
after collecting 78 goals and 41 assists in four seasons.
She
is the third all-time leading scorer in U.S. Soccer history
with 87 goals, and her 65 assists are second only to Mia
Hamm. Kristine played a major role in helping the U.S. win
the 1999 Women's World Cup, not only by scoring 20 goals
during that year, but also by clearing a shot off the goal
line during sudden-death overtime in the final match against
China and then burying the go-ahead penalty kick in the
tiebreaker.
Kristine made her national team debut Aug. 3, 1987, and
scored her first international goal a week later against
China.
Kristine also is one of 20 Women's United Soccer Association
Founding Players, and was the Boston Breakers' inaugural
season captain and Most Valuable Player, as well as a
first-team All-WUSA selection in 2001. She played every
minute of every game for the Breakers, and finished the
season tied with Brazilian star Sissi for the WUSA assists
title with ten. Three of those assists were game-winners.
Kristine placed 31 of her 76 shots on goal, and scored
Boston's only penalty kick goal of the year. Lilly has also
been honored with the naming of the US Youth Soccer Under-15
Girls National Championship Trophy The Kristine Lilly Cup,
for her accomplishments and influence on youth players
across the nation.
Kristine played her first professional soccer in 1994, with
Swedish team Tyreso, and spent the 1995 season as the only
female player in the Continental Indoor Soccer League, with
the Washington Warthogs.
In 1998, the same year she became the most-capped player in
soccer history with her 152nd appearance and set a new U.S.
Soccer record for consecutive starts (62), Kristine spent
part of a season with the W-League's Delaware Genies,
racking up five goals in four games.
Kristine was born July 22, 1971 in New York City, and is a
graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree
in communications. She runs the Kristine Lilly Soccer
Academy every summer in Wilton, where the local high school
soccer team plays on Kristine Lilly Field.
